What adults can learn from kids

Twelve year old Adora Svitak called for mutual respect and reciprocal learning between adults and kids. Her TED bio calls her a “child prodigy” but I think that exceptionalizes her talents and perspective and implies that she is very unlike her peers. I think she models a poise and wisdom that is all around us if we just look for it.

Here’s a little taste of her talk.

“Our [kids’] inherent wisdom doesn’t have to be insider’s knowledge. Kids already do a lot of learning from adults. And we have a lot to share … Learning between adults and kids should be reciprocal…The world needs opportunities for new leaders and new ideas. Kids need new opportunities to lead and succeed. Are you ready to make the match? Because the world’s problems shouldn’t be the human family’s heirloom.”

Enjoy the rest!
