Frequently Asked Questions – Online Workshops

Preparing for Registration

When will registration open?
We offer our workshops regularly throughout the year. We announce the date that registration will open through our mailing list. For Fundamentals of Facilitation for Racial Justice Work and Facilitative Leadership for Social Change, registration is first-come, first-served. For Advancing Racial Justice in Organizations, applications are reviewed and the cohort is selected by our staff.

How does the waitlist work?
Once the workshop is at capacity, the waitlist will open. If a space opens up in the workshop, we will contact everyone on the waitlist. Given time constraints, the waitlist will be first-come, first-served.

The training does not say “Sold Out/Waitlist Only” on your website. When I go to register, it sends me to the waitlist. What is happening?
Our online workshops have a capacity of 30 participants. Once that capacity is reached, registration will close and the waitlist will be activated. Our website is manually updated by our staff, so it may take a few days to display. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any confusion.

Several of us from my organization want to attend a workshop. How many people can we send? Do you offer a group discount rate?
We would love to meet your team! For our public workshops, we ask that each organization send no more than four individuals per workshop series. We do not offer a group discount rate for our public workshops. Read more about how you can bring a workshop to a larger group.

Which ticket type is right for me?
– If you are an individual who works in a grassroots organization or are otherwise affiliated with a racial justice group and you are paying for the workshop yourself, please register as Grassroots*
– If you are an individual with a social or public sector organization please register as Nonprofit.
– If you are an individual with a grantmaking or philanthropic organization please register as Foundation.
– If you are an individual with a social venture organization please register as For-Profit/Social Venture.

* The number of these tickets is limited, so we invite those who are BIPOC, systematically marginalized or excluded, and have the highest level of financial need to register with this ticket type. If this is the only ticket type that works for you and it’s sold out, please sign-up for the waitlist and we’ll contact you if a spot becomes available.

My organization does not have a credit card. How do I register?
While IISC prefers payments via credit card, we understand that this is not possible for all organizations. If you need to pay via a check or purchase order, please reach out to workshops@interactioninstitute.org at least one week prior to registration. We will reserve a space for you – however, you must send a follow-up email confirming your intent to register at the time that registration opens. If we do not receive an email confirmation, we will release your seat to another participant.

Does IISC offer payment plans? Could I delay my payment?
If completing a full payment upon registration would be a barrier to participation, we may be able to work with you to create a payment schedule. Please reach out to workshops@interactioninstitute.org at least one week prior to registration for more information.

What is IISC’s commitment to accessibility?
Read our standard accessibility commitments here. These commitments are standard and do not need to be requested unless otherwise stated. For any other requests or considerations, you can always reach us at workshops@interactioninstitute.org.

Preparing for the Workshop

What is your cancellation policy?
All registrations are non-refundable. Cancellations are subject to the full registration fee. If you can no longer attend the training, see below:

1. Substitute another individual from your organization for no additional fee. You must inform us at workshops@interactioninstitute.org of this change before the start of the workshop.
2. If the start of the workshop date is more than 2 weeks away you can receive a credit towards another IISC workshop by notifying us at workshops@interactioninstitute.org. This credit must be used within one year of the workshop start date. If the start of the workshop date is less than 2 weeks or the workshop has already begun, we are not able to offer credits.

Interaction Institute for Social Change reserves the right to cancel the workshop due to force majeure or any other legitimate condition beyond the control of IISC. In this event, registrants shall receive a full refund of all fees paid to IISC. Registrant agrees that in all such circumstances, IISC’s liability shall be exclusively limited to refunding the fees paid and that IISC shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from the cancellation.

How do I know if I’m registered?  I can’t find my registration confirmation? What do I do if I want to change something in my registration?
Registration is only finalized after full payment for the workshop series. Our event platform will send a confirmation email to confirm your registration. If you cannot find your confirmation email or need to substitute another participant from your organization, please reach out to workshops@interactioninstitute.org.

What should I do to prepare for each session?
Following each session you will receive an email including any important information covered along with recommended pre-work to complete before the next session. Generally, we encourage you to dress for comfort and in anticipation of any temperature fluctuations in your space. If possible, find a quiet and private room so you can be fully present and without distractions. Most importantly, we want you to take care of yourself! Bring snacks, water, fidget toys, or anything else that will help you show up fully prepared, present, and comfortable. If you need any support before a session starts or would like to alert the trainers to any anticipated distractions or obstacles to your participation, please email your training team.

Should I be expecting communication or materials before the training starts? When will I receive any pre-work I am required to do?
Approximately two weeks prior to the start of the workshop we will send any recommended pre-work or important information to the email you used to register.

What if I need to miss a session or will be late?
Participants are expected to attend the entirety of each session, for all sessions. That said, we understand that life can happen, so please email your training team if a conflict emerges. If you don’t have your training team’s contact information, please email workshops@interactioninstute.org.

Will the sessions be recorded?
Sessions will not be recorded, unless otherwise discussed, due to the vulnerable nature of the space created and for the confidentiality of all participant and trainer stories.

How long will I have access to the materials?

Any provided materials are yours to keep and reference. We recommend that you download and save any files you receive for easy access in the future. We cannot guarantee that any links, slide shows, or online resources will be saved on our servers to provide to you again later.

If you have a question that’s not on this list, please email us at workshops@interactioninstitute.org.
