Sara Oaklander

Business Development & Communications Manager

Sara (she/her) has had a career as a utility player in Boston’s social sector with over 30 years experience working in a variety of settings, in an even greater variety of areas of organizational life. The theme seems to be keeping the wheels turning while maximizing impact. She was delighted to find her way to IISC in 2004 where she discovered the joys and challenges of working alongside highly competent, collaborative colleagues who share a fierce commitment to social justice and are endlessly learning and growing together.

Over her years with IISC, Sara has provided content and project management services to clients, supported the work of leadership in a variety of ways, and worked on myriad internal projects in the image of a true organizational generalist. For some years now, Sara has served as IISC’s Business Development and Communications Manager.

Sara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master of Public and Private Management from Yale University. When not working, Sara can be found riding her bike for errands and fun, puttering in the garden, and spending time with family and friends (including her all too adorable grandson, Gregory). She’s an active member of her UU church and regularly serves as a poll worker in Somerville, MA where she lives with her husband and geriatric cat.
