Sara Oaklander
Affiliate Project/Content Manager
Sara (she/her) has had a career as a utility player in Boston’s social sector with over 30 years’ experience working in a variety of settings and in an even greater variety of areas of organizational life. The theme seems to be keeping the wheels turning while maximizing impact.
Sara was delighted to find her way to IISC in 2004 where she discovered the joys and challenges of working alongside highly competent, collaborative colleagues who share a fierce commitment to social and racial justice and are endlessly learning and growing together. And this remains true even as Sara has stepped away from full-time work with IISC in favor of serving as a part-time, project-based affiliate project/content manager…and in favor of allowing for a phase of “creative disruption” as she contemplates what’s next that will fuel her need for purpose and productivity.
Sara holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master of Public and Private Management from Yale University. When not working, she can be found riding her bike for errands and fun, puttering in the garden, and spending time with family and friends. She’s an active member of her UU church and regularly serves as a poll worker in Somerville, MA where she lives with her husband and geriatric cat, Darwin.
