Facilitating Boston Climate Action Plan

In 2007, Mayor Thomas Menino established goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in municipal operations. In 2009, Mayor established a Climate Action Leadership Committee and a Community Advisory Committee to revise the 2007 plan, set goals for the entire Boston community (not just municipal operations), and develop strategies for engaging residents, businesses, community groups and various institutions in taking action to reduce greenhouse gases and deal with those aspects of climate change that are not reversible. IISC, in partnership with Raab Associates, facilitated the work of the Leadership Committee and Community Advisory Committee. IISC focused especially on the community engagement aspects of the project, and is continuing to do so as work proceeds on implementation.
