I am coming to really see the deep connection between the iron hold on ego and the unwillingness to let go of institutions that no longer serve us.  As facades crumble, there seems to be a hunkering down going on all around,  fueled by anxiety and resulting in futile and rancorous efforts to control an outcome that is so much larger than any of us.  Forces are telling us to side with the way of Life, and to reach out.  Will we listen?  Will we stretch?

Escape

When we get out of the glass bottles of our ego,
and when we escape like squirrels turning in the
cages of our personality
and get into the forests again,
we shall shiver with cold and fright
but things will happen to us
so that we don’t know ourselves.

Cool, unlying life will rush in,
and passion will make our bodies taut with power,
we shall stamp our feet with new power
and old things will fall down,
we shall laugh, and institutions will curl up like
burnt paper.

Love the imagery! I think it’s about fear, not just anxiety, though.

Beautiful, and Cynthia said exactly what I would have, there is a terrible fear of breaking out of the cage of the known. May I have the courage to be free.

Fear, anxiety, confusion, denial . . . I think they are all mixed in there, and probably vary depending upon how much people perceive they have to lose.

  • I would like to thank you for the efforts you’ve put in writing this website. I’m hoping the same high-grade site post from you in the upcoming also. Actually your creative writing skills has inspired me to get my own web site now. Really the blogging is spreading its wings fast. Your write up is a good example of it.
